Warren County Trounces Twiggs

Warren County rebounded with an explosive offensive night against the Cobras of Twiggs County Friday night after the offense was held to a scoreless outing against Lincoln County the week before.  The Screaming Devils also put up another impressive performance on defense as they recorded their first shut-out
and ran their record to 5-1 for the season.

The game also saw the addition of a new way for fans to enjoy football Friday night and the Screaming Devils.  For the first time, fans could catch all the action, both audio and video, live on the internet.  Many fans tuned into the school's website to catch the video broadcast of the game.

Ricardo Jones ignited the scoring for the Devils with a 66 yard run to the end zone with 10:41 to go in the first quarter for the first of 3 Warren County touchdowns in the period.  Devarius Davis added a touchdown with a 3 yard run and Richard Wilburn passed for a 42 yard touchdown strike to Jabari Wilson with 2:18 to go in the first quarter.  The 2 point conversion by Wilson gave the Screaming Devils a 20-0 lead at the end of the quarter.

Warren County's defense backed the Cobras deep into their own territory at the end of the first quarter. With Twiggs County punting deep in Cobra territory, Warren blocked a punt for their third consecutive week and Ed'Ricus Williams recovered for another Screaming Devil touchdown.  Jabari Wilson pinned the Cobras back deep into their own territory on the ensuing kick off and Warren scored again 8 seconds later with a safety to make the score 28-0.

The Devils would score twice more in the first half with a 56 yard run by Wilson and a 9 yard pass from Damien Clarke to Williams.  Jacquez Menchaca added a 2 point conversion to give Warren County a 42-0 half-time lead.

Warren County added two more scores in the second half with a 9 yard run by Davis for a touchdown and a 20 yard run by Richard Wilburn.  Williams' lone extra point of the night capped the scoring for Warren County at 55-0.

The victory was the third in three consecutive years for the Screaming Devils against Twiggs County and evens the series record at 3-3 between the two teams.

Devarius Davis lead all rushers for Warren County with 77 yards and 2 touchdowns on 8 carries.  Jabari Wilson racked up 68 yards and 2 touchdowns on only 3 carries and 1 reception.  Ricardo Jones also found the end zone on 1 carry for 66 yards.    Dextrell Norris carried the ball 4 time for 29 yards and Jacquez Menchaca had 24 yards on 4 carries.  Damien Clarke had 36 yards on 5 carries and was a perfect 4-4 through the air for 61 passing yards.  Richard Wilbun also threw for 42 yards with a touchdown pass to Williams.

Warren County will get a much needed rest this week before taking on the Bulldogs of Hancock Central next week.
