Region 7 Tourney: Day 2

Day 2 of the Region 7 basketball tournament got under way today with the Warren County Lady Devils kicking off the action against the Hurricanes of Monticello in a game to decide the number 3 and 4 seed for the state tournament.

Warren County started strong as Candace Warthen and Tynesha Harris opened the scoring for Warren County by hitting back-to-back three pointers. The game remained close until the fourth quarter.

Warren County found themselves trailing by a score of 31-27 to start the fourth. The Lady Devils then went on a hot streak and outscored the Hurricanes by 15 to seal the victory by a score of 46-35.

Up next: Warren County vs. Twiggs

Warren County was once again in action on the night in the second game. This time it was the boys taking on the Cobras of Twiggs County.

Warren County jumped out to a slim early lead, but Twiggs battled back to lead at the end of the first by a score of 19-14. The Cobras continued to pile on the points in the second period. They seemed to be unable to miss as they drained several three pointers in a row. The Cobras took a 36-24 lead into the locker room when the horn sounded to end the first half.

If the first half belonged to Twiggs County, the second would have to belong to the Screaming Devils of Warren County. The Devil's fans certainly had plenty to scream about as Travis Burley and C.J. Williams were on fire for most of the third period. The Cobras only managed to score 4 points in the third quarter and Warren County took advantage of their inablility to find the bucket to retake the lead by a score of 43-40 at the end of the 3rd.

The Devils would never look back. Final score: Warren County 58, Twiggs County 49.
