Middle School Completes Sweep of Taliaferro

Both WCMS basketball teams saw action Saturday morning in games that kicked off a full day's schedule of basketball for Warren County at home against the Jaguars of Taliaferro County. The Devils won both games in the earlier meeting between the two teams and looked to complete a season sweep of the Jaguars by winning both games.

The Lady Devils began the morning action against the Jaguars. Scoring was low in the early going as the Lady Devils held a one point lead by a score of 5-4 at the end of the first quarter. Taliaferro controlled most of the second quarter and limited Warren to only two points. The Devils went to the locker room with the score at 12-7, trailing by 5. It was the first time the Lady Devils trailed at the end of the first half all year.

Warren County rallied in the second half and recaptured the lead in the third quarter. The Lady Devils led the rest of the way as they went on to win by a score of 29-25. Leading the way for the Devils was Tomeka Harris with 17 points.

The WCMS boy's team took the court following the Lady Devils. The second game of the day was never in doubt as the Devils took an early 9-3 lead in the first quarter. Warren County extended their lead in the second and took a 23-8 lead into the half.

The Devils maintained their lead in the third and entered the fourth quarter with the lead by a score of 33-19. The Jaguars managed to close the gap a little in the 4th, but is simply was not enough. The Devils went on to win by a score of 40-30.

Leading scorer for the Devils was Deon Smith with 17.
