WCHS track season is off and running

The WCHS track team travelled to Tallifero County Thursday for their first track meet of the season. Their first contest of the year was against Tallifero and Washington-Wilkes. The meet offered the Devils the opportunity to stretch their legs for the first time this season against two region opponents and see just what kind of team they have this year.

Both the girl's and boy's teams finished in first place for the meet. There were many individual standouts as well. Individual results were as follows:

Boys:
1st Place: Antonio Benton in the 100 meter, 200 meter, and the long jump; Kentrell Latimore in the 110 meter high hurdles and the 300 meter intermediate hurdles; Tay Erwin in the triple jump; Johnathan Lewis in the discus

2nd Place: Kentrell Latimore, Antonio Benton, Andrew Webb, & Coby Reynolds in the 400 meter relay; Coby Reynolds in the 200 meter & long jump; Tay Erwin for the high jump; Johnathan Lewis in the shot put

3rd Place: Ricardo Jones in the 400; Edricus Williams in the 110; Tay Erwin in the 300 intermediate hurdles; Ricardo Jones, Greg Howard, Jacquon Jackson, & Antwaun Harlemon in the 1600 meter relay

Girls:
1st Place: Makeia Carter, Shabria Martin, Tianca Evans, & Takeisa Harris in the 400 meter relay; Tianca Evans for the 400 meter; Tiandra Harris in the 110 meter hurdles; Lashandria Reynolds in the discus; Cedrica Bacon in the shot put; Lakerria Williams in the long jump

2nd Place: Jashana Graves, 800 meter; Sondrea Hardin, 200 meter; Kelisa Williams, 110 hurdles; Tiandra Harris, 300 meter hurdles; Tykesia Johnson, Tianca Evans, Jashana Graves, & Tiandra Harris in the 1600 meter relay; Lashandria Reynolds, shot put

3rd Place: Lakerria Williams, 100 meter & triple jump; Makeia Carter, 300 meter hurdles
