Warren County Middle School
Splits with Glascock

Both the Warren County Middle School basketball teams saw action Wednesday against the Panthers of Glascock County. Both schools were able to come away from the evenings matchup with a victory.

The lady devils struggled in the first game of the evening as Glascock took the opener by a score of 37-23. The Panthers never looked back after jumping out to an early lead over our Lady Devils. The Warren County girls did manage to draw close at the half and went to the locker room trailing by only five with the score 18-13. It was all Glascock in the second half however as the Panthers dominated on both ends of the court.

The Warren County Middle School Lady Devils have been going through a rebuilding year this year. The squad, made up of mostly first year players, is still looking for their first win of the year. While the season may not appear successful based on the win column, Coach Vera Williams stated that she is impressed with the improvement and the heart that her girls have played with this year.

Everything went Warren's way when the boys took the court in the second game of the evening. The Screaming Devils drove the opening tip-off down the court for a score and never were really challenged after that. Warren County went on to win by a score of 60-9. Key to the boy's victory Wednesday night was rebounding. The Screaming Devils prevented the Panthers from getting a second shot most all night long by seemingly recovering almost every defensive rebound.

The boy's team has played short-handed for much of this year. Wednesday saw only eight players dress out for Warren county, an increase from earlier in the season when The Devils played with only four and almost pulled out a victory, losing by just ten. Coach Rhodes set high standards for his team early on. Those who stuck with him early combined with the ones that joined him later in the season, are beginning to see the results of the hard work that he demands from his players.
