Warren County Splits
Rematch
With Hancock
Warren County took on Hancock Central for the second meeting of the year between the two squads. The Screaming Devils were looking to even the score with the Bulldogs after dropping all three games in their first encounter with Hancock Central.
Hancock Central looked to be on the way to another sweep after the first two games of the evening. Hancock's J.V. team came away with a victory over Warren County and then went on to defeat the Lady Devils by a score of 69-36. Kenyetta Reese had one of her best games this year. Reese led the scoring for the Devils with fifteen. Candice Warthen had one of her lowest scoring totals this year with fourteen. Warthen injured her back early in the game, yet managed to play through the injury. Kandyce Wilburn posted four points, Somone Hordens two points, and Lakeria Williams added one point in the effort for the Lady Devils.
The Varsity Devils looked to salvage a victory for Warren County in the final game of the evening. Both teams got off to a slow start offensively. Neither team was able to put points on the board until 2:38 into the first quarter. The shots simply would not fall for either team as the first quarter ended with Warren County holding on to a slim lead by the score of 13-9.
The scoring did not pick up in the second quarter. Warren and Hancock combined for a total of only sixteen points. Half-time found the two teams tied at 19-19.
The start of the third quarter saw the Bulldogs jump out to a quick ten point lead. Ticaro Heath's long three pointer, however, energized the Devils as they went on a run of their own to keep the game within reach. The end of the third found the Devils down by six with the score 38-32.
The fourth quarter proved to be the most exciting of the evening for the capacity crowd. While the score remained close throughout the fourth, it wasn't until :45 seconds to go in the game that Warren County managed to tie the
score at 45-45. With the clock showing under :25 seconds to go, Tommy Seals drained a three pointer to put the Devils in the lead 48-45. Hancock brought the ball down the court and with 1.4 seconds to go attempted a three point shot to tie the game. The shot missed, but Warren County was called for a foul sending the Bulldogs to the line for three shots with a chance to tie the game and send it into overtime. Hancock missed the first shot and made the next two. Warren County in-bounded the ball and time expired, sealing the win for the Devils by the score of 48-47.

Tommy Seals led the scoring for the Devils with fifteen, followed by C.J.

Warren County goes on the road Tuesday against Taliferro County.
