Seals Breaks 1000 Mark

Tommy Seals, a junior at WCHS, went over the 1000 point mark Wednesday night in the first round of the region tournament against Twiggs County. Seals came into the game needing twenty-four points to reach the magic number of 1000. Word began to circulate among those in attendance that Seals was getting close to the milestone as he put up 10 points in the first quarter. By the beginning of the fourth quarter it was apparent to everyone in attendance that Seals would hit the mark that night. With about four minutes to go in the game, Seals pulled up for a short jumper in the lane that went in giving him the milestone.

Seals stated that he did not know how close he was to the mark until Coach Rhodes told him that he only needed 1 point during a time-out in the fourth quarter. When asked how many points he would score before the game, Seals replied by saying, "As many as the good Lord will let me have."

Seals was joined at center court by his mother, Vickie Seals and father Tommy Seals, Sr. for a presentation immediately following the game. Coach Brian Wallace presented Seals with an autographed gameball signed by the rest of the Screaming Devil team.
