A group of Warren County students travelled to Atlanta to catch a Braves game as guests of several Atlanta Braves players on April 18th. Students from Coach Carey's Freshman Transition class who had met certain academic requirements were rewarded for their work this past year with tickets to the ballgame. Coach Swann also took members of the Warren County High School baseball team.

The trip marked the first time at a Major League game for many students. Not even the rainy weather could dampen the excitement as Atlanta dominated the Mets by the score of 14-6.
The Warren County baseball program, after years of lying dormant, was restarted about five years ago. The team has improved each year despite the lack of a field to play on and severely limited practice facilities. "We have gone from being run ruled in the least amount of innings played to scoring in every game this year and having no game played go less than five innings," stated Coach Swann. Swann added, "We have the athletes to compete in baseball. We just have to do a better job of getting them to play at the younger age levels. We also suffer from a huge disadvantage due to the lack of practice facilities, however I could not be prouder of how far this team has come."

The Warren County students and coaches would like to thank each member of the Atlanta Braves "Reach Out, Be Our Guest Program" that contributed tickets. The players include Tim Hudson, Chipper Jones, Brian McCann, Craig Kimbrel, Michael Bourn, and Martin Prado.
