The Warren County Middle School Screaming Devils took on the Thomson Middle School Bulldogs in the Brickyard tonight and proved that there is more to football than numbers. The Thomson bench had the bigger numbers when it came to team size, but the Screaming Devils proved their heart and desire could keep their small squad competetive. Warren County treated the fans in attendance to a 32-26 game that was not decided until the final seconds.
Warren County jumped on the scoreboard first after they recovered a Thomson fumble and drove down the field to go on top 6-0. Thomson then came back to tie the score on their next possession with a touchdown of their own making the score 6-6. The first quarter then became a defensive battle with neither team able to find the endzone again.
Thomson scored first in the second quarter to go on top, 12-6. Warren County answered right

back on the ensuing kick-off. Quentavious Johnson fielded the kick at about the 35 yard line and outran everybody 65 yards to tie the game once again for the Screaming Devils. It appeared the 1st half would end in a tie, but Thomson scored with only 3 seconds to go in the half to take an 18-12 lead into half-time.
The third quarter saw Thomson score two unanswered touchdowns and a two point conversion to take the lead by a score of 32-12. It appeared that Thomson's depth and Warren County's lack thereof was beginning to take a toll. Many of the Screaming Devils got few chances to rest as they were forced to play both offense and defense due to having less than twenty players on the team.

The Screaming Devils proved that heart counts for as much as numbers in the fourth quarter, however. Warren County coaches demanded that their players not quit and the Screaming Devils did indeed rise to the challenge. Quarterback, Dennis Clarke, led his team down to about the 15 yard line where he hit Davis with a screen pass for a touchdown. Clarke also connected with Ed Williams for a 35 yard TD in the fourth quarter to draw within 6 of the Bulldogs. Warren County found themselves driving once again late in the fourth quarter with a chance to tie the game. The Screaming Devils got the ball down to about the 35 yard line with time for only one more play. Clarke once again went to the air. The Warren County receiver was unable to hold onto the ball this time, however, as Thomson squeaked out the win by a score of 32-26.
